Your First Wholesale Jewellery Order: A Checklist for New Resellers

Your first wholesale jewellery order should give you a range you can understand, present and manage. Before choosing designs, decide who you want to sell to and how you will take orders. This checklist from Shuma Jewellers is designed for new resellers, boutique owners and small jewellery shops.

1. Define a focused first collection

Write down your intended customer, their usual price range and the occasions they shop for. Then shortlist a few complementary categories. For example, a collection centred on smaller earrings can include floral studs and pearl-look drops, while an occasion-led collection may need more noticeable designs. Treat this as a starting idea to test with your own customers.

Use our earring collection and full catalogue to compare options. Keep the product link and SKU beside each shortlisted item so similar designs do not get mixed up.

2. Allow for the complete purchase cost

Set aside money for stock, shipping, packaging and presenting the products. Keep a reserve for your next purchase instead of committing your whole budget to the first order. Before payment, review the final total and clarify any charges you do not understand.

3. Confirm exactly what you are buying

  • Does the price cover a single piece, a pair or a set?
  • How many pieces and colours are included in a pack?
  • What are the dimensions, fastening and confirmed material details?
  • What minimum order value and per-design quantities apply?
  • Are your selected variants currently available?

Ask about missing information before ordering. Avoid assuming that a photograph showing several colours means all colours are included in the listed price.

4. Check the ordering and delivery terms

Review the current shipping policy and confirm payment options, dispatch timing and the process for reporting a damaged or incorrect item. If you are buying for an exhibition or another fixed date, explain your deadline before paying and allow time to inspect and prepare the stock.

5. Record and inspect the delivery

Keep your order confirmation and match the received items against it. Check quantities, colours and fastening details before making products available to your customers. Record any discrepancy clearly and contact the supplier promptly under the applicable policy. Add each accepted item to your stock record using a consistent SKU.
